Why should I be suddenly afeard - a poem by Kingsley Beat

Why should I be suddenly afeared?
Is it because of chemicals that seared?
Why should I be so suddenly afeared?
I thank the lord for giving me this beard

And welcome back the tooth ache that I feared?
Back to wander havoc in this sphere
3 days or so to ride it a out
holding on to the bedposts as it veers

through pulsting zones of pain and then to tears
my welcome toothy ache of yester year
The insights remembered in the spheres
of pain awareness challenge hearts bleed here

I remembered wonder with a tear

The wisdom that encapsulates it’s here:
Thou should not be so suddenly afeared

For a second or two ago you stroked your beard
And remembered how fine hearts had often cheered
Thune own two feet stood in balance here
And you thought ‘I’ll have another sip of beer’.

Breathe deeply your way out of it
straighten up and stretch and rear

Thou should not be so suddenly afeared.
